Osseus Surgery

“Osseus” refers to bone tissue. Osseus surgery involves repairing jawbone tissue that has been compromised as a result of gum disease or periodontitis. When bacteria in the mouth attack the gums, they can go deep into the jawbone, as well. The damage caused to bone by gum disease is called “defects.” These defects make cleaning teeth and gums at home virtually impossible. Osseus surgery allows Dr. Lorber to reshape the defected areas to restore bone mass, density, and form.

After osseus surgery, your oral bone and gum tissue will effectively support your teeth once again. Periodontal pockets will be reduced, as well. This will make oral homecare easier and more effective. If you have bony defects because of gum disease, osseus surgery will improve your potential for retaining your natural teeth longer.

Call Dr. Lorber’s office today to schedule a personal consultation. He will be happy to talk about your case, provide a treatment plan, discuss options, and answer all of your questions about gum disease and osseus surgery.
